The Season of Rock Zeniths
It is Rocktober.
That means it is the month that climaxes the rock-n-roll season for the year, culminating in an INSANE COSTUME PARTY.
Then it’s 4 months of nuthin’ until early Spring when tendrils of rocking start to emerge like ephemeral wildflowers on the midwestern prairie.
Of course, by “nuthin'” I just mean not much live performing. I’m like you. I don’t like traveling in wintry weather and I wouldn’t go see someone else’s show either, unless it was COWBOY MOUTH or SUNSPOT.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t be busy.
I’ll be working on a book about self-employment and sticking it to the man, as well as doing lots of song writing. The latter endeavor culminates with a possible trip to Nashville in late January, and of course, FAWM.ORG…the February Album Writing Month challenge to produce 14 songs in 28 days. Hopefully, I will get a head start on song ideas this year so it’s fruitful in cold, bleak February. Always look on the bright side, what else is there to do in the shortest, bleakest, coldest month of the year?
But that’s all AFTER Rocktober, and there is still PLENTY OF ROCKING to do right now.
My band GUPPY EFFECT opens for COWBOY MOUTH tomorrow (Thursday 10/22). It’s a real honor to be supporting this raging party rock band from New Orleans. We hope you can make it. Next week we play a pre-Halloween Party on Wednesday 10/28 at Brink Lounge in Madison, WI and on All Hallow’s Eve (Saturday 10/31) we rock the BEST HALLOWEEN PARTY EVER.
So come help me and my band close out Rock Season 2009 with a huge bang!
